2nd grade - 2 Thessalonians 3:3 - Hide the Word - December

2 Thessalonians 3:3 – But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

The one page of ideas for this verse can be located here.

The take home activity can be found here with different words, but the same concept. Pages 8-13 are the sheets for the children to hold up for this activity.

One of the activites, a perforation, has instructions that can be found here. Pages 3, 4, and 5 have the blackline masters for perforations.

The second page is the certificate to pass out to the children when they say the verse for the first time. Feel free to dress up the certificate.

Page 7 is the verse poster for this verse. We hang ours in the classroom as we introduce the verse.

Page 6 is a verse poster for the children to decorate while you discuss the verse with the class.

Second Grade - 2 Thessalonians 3:3 - December - Hide The Word

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
2 Thessalonians 3:3

This verse is the December verse for 2nd grade. One of the possible activities is a perforation.

To do a perforation, start with a fill in the blank worksheet, and a second worksheet with the words that belong in the blanks.

Cut the words for the blanks out.

Mount the words on black (or any other color) construction paper with tape.

Take the paper to a carpet. Using a push pin, punch the pin through the paper layers, outlining each letter.

Remove the top white paper from the black construction paper.

Tape the colored construction paper onto the fill in the blank worksheet. (If you use glue, it will ooze through). You can see the white paper shining through the holes of the construction paper.

You can do this perforation with any verse or Bible class activity.

Attached to this blog are the worksheets for 2 Thessalonians 3:3, the December Hide the Word verse for 2nd Grade.

4th Grade - Hide the Word - February - Romans 6:23 - Perforation

Perforations are a lot of fun!  To do this activity, you must have carpet in your classroom or carpet squares.  You will also need one push pin for each child.  Staples sells over-sized push pins that are really nice to use.

Before class, prepare the verse worksheet with a few blanks.  Print the words for the blank in the same size font on another sheet of paper.  Cut each white word into a rectangle   Cut a black rectangle the same size as each white word rectangle.  Tape the black paper to the back of the white words.  In class, the kids use a push pin to trace the words, leaving about 1mm between each punch.  Once the word is fully punched, then gently remove the white word rectangle and throw it away.  Tape the black punched word in the blank.
The white from the paper shows through the black.  You can also put a piece of foil behind the black word to make the silver "shine" through.
This activity can be used with any verse.  Judge your kids self-control before doing this, but we have done it several times with first graders with success. :)
