2nd Grade - 1 Corinthians 16:13 - September - Hide the Word

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13

Here is the one page of ideas for 1 Corinthians 16:13.

The second page of the packet is the black line master of the certificate given to each child when they first say the verse.

The third page of the packet is the description of the tile coaster activity for this verse.

Page four is the verse poster. At the beginning of every month, we hang this page in the classroom when we discuss the verse. We cut it apart and have the children put the sentence strips in order.

5th Grade - May - Hide the Word - 1 Corinthians 15:57-58

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58-59

Bring to class: baby wipes, paint, sponge brush, one piece of card stock per child.  In class, have each child sit in a chair while you sit on the floor.  Have them take off sock and shoe and show you on the paper where they want their footprint.  Teacher paints bottom of foot with a foam brush.  Then firmly place foot on the floor, making sure to press on each toe.  Carefully lift foot and wipe off with baby wipe. Then give the child another baby wipe to get in all the nooks and crannies of their foot to get all the paint.  Have a worksheet or other quiet activity for rest of class to while painting the feet.  The paint dries very quickly.

As for writing the verse, for this sample, we wrote the verse beside the footprint.  You can also write the verse around the foot, in the shape of the foot.  Once the paint has dried, use a pencil to lightly trace around the foot.  Then write the verse on the pencil lines.  Make sure to have a good eraser and a sample.  It is tricky to figure out the spacing of the words.  Erase the pencil line before sending home.

You could also do the footprint in the middle of the card stock and have the kids write the verse in a Sharpie OVER the footprint, like words in a book.

Depending on the amount of time you have to do this, it may take two class sessions to complete.  Once it is complete, put it in a Dollar Tree frame.  It will hang in that house for years and years and remind the whole family of God's Word!

5th Grade - Hide the Word - March - 1 Corinthians 1:10 - Jigsaw puzzle

This is a mail-out game or in class activity, depending on your time.  This is also an activity that can be used for basically any verse!  First buy jigsaw puzzles. We purchased a 24 piece puzzle from the Dollar Tree.

I assembled the puzzle, and spray painted the puzzle and the box.

After the pieces dried, I reassembled the puzzle and wrote a word or two on each piece. Alternatively, you can just ignore the puzzle piece lines and write over the puzzle, allowing words to be seperated by the puzzle breaks.

We taped the verse card to the front of the box to help with memorization. I hand wrote the verse card, but you can make copies or print it off on a computer.

This project didn't take very long to make, and was very inexpensive!

5th Grade - Hide the Word - August - 1 Corinthians - Venn Diagram

As a teacher, I love Venn diagrams!  They foster deep, higher level thinking for your students.  This can be done in class as an individual worksheet or as a poster on butcher that you complete together.  The memory verse is 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 about your body being the new temple.  So for this activity you compare your body and the Lord's Temple that was in Jerusalem.

On the left, write things that only apply to the Lord's Temple.  On the right, write things that only apply to your body.  On the over-lapping circles, write things that are for both.

This is a wonderful way to assess your student's thinking and Biblical application.

3rd Grade - Hide the Word - July - 1 Corinthians 10:24

We found these in the Dollar Spot at Target.  You can do multiple things with them!  One idea is to write one word of the verse on each star.  You can hang them in the classroom OR make a set for each child.  You could also use them to sequence in class or decorate a verse poster.  It's a great buy!

3rd Grade - Hide the Word - July- 1 Corinthians 10:24 Mail-out Game

This is the mail-out game for 3rd Grade July.  To prepare, Cricut 8 spy-scopes per child.  We used the Paper Doll Dress-Up cartridge, Pirate Girl, Accessory 2.  We cut 12" size and they are actually about 4 inches long.  Write verse phrases on each spy-scope.  Place in a baggie and mail to the kids.  The children then sequence the spy-scopes in order to make the whole verse.

3rd Grade Hide the Word - July - 1 Corinthians 10:24

Before class, gather star stickers and 1 sheet of 9x12 black construction for each child.  Also use the Cricut to die-cut the spy-scopes.  The spy-scope is from Paper Doll Dress-Up, Pirate Girl, Accessory 2.  It is 12" size.

In class, have the kids write the verse using a white crayon, silver Sharpie or glitter marker.  Then they can affix star stickers.  On the spy-scope, the kids write the scripture reference.
