Hide the Word at Home - Ring of Verses

One of our friends came up with this and we LOVED it!!!  Each month she made a label of the memory verse.  She found clip art for each verse and placed it on the label with the verse.  She found these index card rings with plastic covers for $1 at Staples!  What a bargain!!!  Each month when she mails out the game, she gives the child a new label to stick in their ring.  This is something that will grow and grow through the years!

Hide the Word- CD Labels

Hide the Word in Your Heart - Labels for the CDs

For each age level, we have created a CD of the memory verse songs. This has been very helpful for the teachers, parents, and students to learn songs to help write God's word in their hearts.

Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to post .wmv files to Blogger. If you're interested in hearing the songs, please comment on this post and we will get back with you.

Annually, we burn the songs for each age level onto a CD. Every child in the congregation receives the appropriate CD. In addition, every teacher receives the same CD so she can learn the songs along with the children. We burn these CDs at home, write the grade level on each CD, and pop the CD into a paper CD holder.

For the CD holder, we needed a song label that would list what song verses were on the CD in what order. We came up with Avery label 48863, a 2"x4" shipping label. You use Avery Template 5163 to create these. We simply print the attached PDFs onto the shipping labels, and stick the labels onto a paper CD holder.

We distribute these CDs to the children their first Sunday in the new grade level, which for us is in June. We usually make a few extras for students that may move in during the school year.

Hide the Word - organization

We think in folders and spreadsheets!  To organize of Hide the Word materials for first grade, we made a file box.  The whole year of verses fits in this box. At first we also kept the 3-D leftovers, but it got too full.  Each blue tab is a new month.

Within each month, there are three file folders.  They are labelled "to be mailed home", " to be used in class" and "in class activities."  In the "to be mailed home" we keep the verse card, letter for that month, and any flat game pieces.  In the "to be used in class" folder we keep the song sheet of that verse, the copied Bible and monthly idea sheet.  In the "in class activities" folder we keep worksheets for class, games that are not mailed home, craft instructions for in class crafts and other game "stuff."

As you begin making games each month, you will have some leftovers.  This is not the best way to store them, but it is what we have for now with the space we have available.  It is a fairly large basket from Michael's.  Inside we have each month's leftovers in a gallon baggie.  Within the gallon baggies, there are also sandwich baggies with smaller pieces.
